Update: I tried restoring it via iTunes, but it didn't work. Got error 9, so I went and disabled all my security and tried again. No dice.
Someone has to know what I can do here. Help me out.

16lb sledge should do the trick
But seriously, try formatting the device (not via iTunes), then re-install all the necessities (firmware, etc.)
Fairly generic advice, but that's the first thing that comes to mind. This is, of course, assuming it's a software issue.

How would I go about formatting the iPod then? And where/how would I install the, "Necessities?"
