Yeah i got a blue screen error on my desktop im posting this on my laptop, here is the error stuff, and the problem im having is i cant get it to start up in safe mode with command prompt to change antyhing i can start it up with the windows disc and get into the recovery stuff but im wondering if formatting my hard drive will rmeove the problem, please help thanks the system information is below as well

Error info:
STOP c000021a 0xc0000034

Intel core2quad processor 2.4 ghz
2 250 gig harddrives
GeForce 8800 GT graphics card
Reg Sound Card
Nvidia 680i motherboard
massive cooling fan
3gig ram

Please AIM me at azrael4791 THANKS[/b]

I actually recommend buying a new empty hard drive over formatting your current one.
1. Your problem could be a physical defect
2. Some of your data may be recoverable

Just my 2 cents. Either way, you need a fresh start.

on my dads Mac OS X, I have two problems. Please forgive me as I suck with computers:

1. I cant open Firefox, Messenger e.t.c. Every time I double click it, it appears on the Dock bouncing around like when you open a program and then disappears off of the Dock and nothing happens. Please help!

2. When I try to open Yahoo! Messenger, it says Error-95 No Mountable Systems. What is this and how do I get around it?

My computer shut down in the middle of a session. Now I have a red X in my task bar saying my computer has spyware and wants me to download the newest software (which is like antivirus 2009 or something). I've also noticed there's a red caution sign over Avast (meaning it's turned off).

Lastly, whenever I try to visit avast.com, or any other antivirus site, I'm redirected to other sites.

I don't really like telling people to format, but you should probably format.

Well hmmm.....I got Avast working. I scanned my system and found 8 spyware/trojan files, and deleted them all. But I still have that redirection problem with some sites. It seems to only happen when I use google, or at least the search bar in FF.

The only thing is, even if you've removed them, the holes and backdoors are still there. It's kind of difficult to get everything 100% squared and safe once your system has been compromised.

You can try to download HijackThis and see what processes are running, maybe Avast missed a few things.

Looks like your only option is to reformat your computer, I don't see any other option, sorry.

Are the videos you are watching just in real player or are there different players you can choose for each video?

lolololol, no.

Uninstall/reinstall your browser. Go to Task manager >> Process and shut down any process that isnt a System process/avast/firefox. Try browsing to any site, if you get redirected look at your task manager and see if new process came up, if they did google "fix nameofprocess.exe" and follow instructions to get rid of it. Reboot your system and download Trojan remover, full scan.

Or, on a second computer download TrojanRemover, install it on the nonworking computer and do a full scan, also, try to reinstall your browser if it doesnt work.

Honestly you RARELY and i do mean RARELY need to format your hard drive, and issues with your browser are nowhere near as critical.

Whats the extention of the files you download? *.rpl or something?
If so, you really are downloading as real player videos and thats the format youre downloading the files at. If youre downloading videos that have a different extention such as *.avi *.mpg abd your real player opens its because you have RP as your default media player. Lastly, are you using a plugin or some download manager to download files? If so, it may download everything as *.rpl due to some settings

So I want to play a game on my PC but I get an error message;

My computer I just got like a year ago, but the monitor I'm using sucks dick. If I got a better monitor, would I be able to play it? Like is the graphics card in the monitor? I assume it installed right, and this monitor is total plum.

My processor isn't fast enough. It's like 1.80 GHz.

And I don't want to spend a lot of money on a better one ;o;

For some reason I can't put animated GIFs as my background (though I know I've set them as my background before)

I'm currently using a randomized background program and at first I thought it might be a problem with that, but I just saw one of the GIFs come up unanimated so it's obviously not a problem with that. I was wondering if there were any settings I could've probably turned off/on that would disallow the use of said Animated GIFs.

I just cut open the cord going from my router to compy. As long as I just cut the rubber casing and not the stuff inside, it should be safe to use yeah? Slap on some electrical tape and I'm good to go?

Yeah you'll be fine. If it is broken though, the cables are dirt cheap to replace.
