NaS, a.k.a. Nasir Jones

So why did NaS win?

Probably because over the last couple years NaS has been nothing short of spectacular and consistently amazing. Dropping two of the better albums of his career in "Untitled" and "Hip Hop Is Dead". Of course dropping guest verses like the one on "My President" with Young Jeezy and pairing up with Ludacris & Jay-Z for "I Did It For Hip Hop" and the more catchy and commerical "I'm On" with Dj Khaled and Cool of Cool and Dre. And in case you didn't know NaS did release probably one of the best albums of all time in Illmatic.

Thanks to everyone who voted or discussed it.

and whine, discuss and complain about how Eminem/Jay-Z/Your choice didn't win here.

And there will be another contest of some kind coming very soon, but it will not be "Best Rapper of All Time", something else.

I used to be more useful around here.

I think Em should have won, but thats my personal opinion. NaS is a monster so I'm happy anyways.

But it would be pretty awesome to argue about it.

Yeah.

Or a best rapper of all time, but make it not a simple vote off, but members arguing with quotes of lyrics of the said rappers. Of course, there would have to be less contestants, or that would start in the later rounds. This way the contest would last longer and keep the ETC corner active longer.

Why did NaS win?

Imo, because he inspires. Some of hos lyrics speak to me deeper than any other lyrics do. "One Mic" is one of the best songs I've ever heard.
"Untitled" also speaks a lot to me. Me being in a bad social/ethnic position, not knowing what its like in the USA.

"We are much more
yet we chose to ignore
the obvious
man this history don't acknowledge us
we were scholars long before colleges."

Fully applies to my situation.

We need people to start dropping rhymes for the corner to be active.
