Recently, we made a topic that states how warns are going to be administered for all situations. This is posted as a reference so you guys are aware:

1st offense - Verbal Warning

2nd offense - Block Warn

3rd offense - Block Warn & 1-3 day suspension

A block warn and a minimum of a one day suspension. If the offense is serious, they can be given up to three days of suspension.

4th offense - Block warn & 3-7 day suspension.

A minimum of three days, going up to seven days. If the offense is more serious than a one week suspension, a mod can go to the fifth offense.

5th offense - Admin action

All warns given last for a minimum of two weeks, while most will last for one month. For warn removal, either contact the moderator who gave it to you, or contact a moderator of that section/global mod/admin after one month has passed.

So stupid. If you have a warn and you forget to turn your sig off for something you get a suspension? You should really put something that says 'special circumstances may apply'

But, for the most part I support this.

That would be a "First Offense" of the action, buddy.

That was an inconsistency in our work. This matrix was made like, a few weeks ago. Prior to this mods never really had a set/rule book to go by, so we just improvised.

With this there SHOULD be consistency.

After reading Blitzplayer and Shadow's discussion... I can do several bad things and as long as I do each only once I'm good?

If it's for a Contest (KOTF, etc) and it's already stated "Sigs off or a Block warning", that is your First Warning right there.

What I'm saying is if you have a warning prior, and then something like this comes up, you're not gonna get suspended for it. You were warned for something completely different before, so it makes no sense to have that carry over to leaving your sig on in a Contest.

If we had vB, this would be a lot less complicated, as its "warn" system (Infractions) is much more elegant and advanced. Infractions are also automatically removed after a certain time period, and there is an an auto-suspension feature after a certain number of infractions are active.

But as long as we have IPB, it's good to see that you guys have put the warn system on the right track for everyone to see. Not that it really pertains to me, as I have somehow avoided block warns altogether these past four years.

I probably sound really dumb right now, but what is the difference between a verbal warning and a block warn?

A verbal warn, is when I warn you verbally (with words) and tell you what you did and tell you not to do it again. A block warn, is that warn that goes under you username, and into your warn log, for mods to see. Basically the % warn.
