I really enjoyed you're article however I would like to note Gladiators weren't always slaves only the criminals were enslaved and they were put in the games to make money while executing those who commited crimes. Many gladiators chose to enter the games as warriors and they were in fact "merciful" as the actual truly trained gladiators were very rarely killed. In fact they even made specailly designed weapons in the games meant to simply wound the fighters not to kill them.

Nice Article.

Perhaps mention Summon Priest as the Structure Deck with him is coming out soon?

But do you really think Summon Priest would be ran in this skeleton? You would need more Spell Cards rather than Traps, but you should include it.

Nice Article.

Great article. And I do like how you didn't mention Torax, Alexander, Octavius and what not to prevent a tutorial. :]

Again, great article.

Act III
My friend, do you fly away now?
To a world that abhors you and I?
All that awaits you is a somber morrow
No matter where the winds may blow
My friend, your desire
Is the bringer of life, the gift of the goddess
Even if the morrow is barren of promises
Nothing shall forestall my return

I concur with Rad. But we don't need to wait to begin a discussion of this same skeleton in the present format.

Obvious changes:
-Monster Reborn is gone
-Rescue Cat is limited
-Cold Wave is limited
-Lightsworn and Zombie deck must be played differently now (which means Glad Beasts need to shift a little)
-Dimensional Prison as a potential replacement for or addition to Waboku given the shift in the format (I think it's a staple)
-Sangan seems pointless in a GB build--it seems far too slow

Questions to be posed:
-What do people consider the new tech options for Glads?--Thunder King, Cyber Dragon (back at 2), Prisma (still), Gale, Airbellum, Compulsory Evacuation Device, Dust Tornado, Trap Stun, etc.
-Gale vs. Airbellum--what is more consistent? Or is this simply a question of preference?
-Retiari--staple or cool tech?
-Enemy Controller vs. Shrink--what is the best selection?
-Waboku--is it as useful in this format (corollary: is D-Prison better?)

We seem to have much to discuss here, folks.

As for Gale Vs. Airbellum, I say it depends on what else your intending to run. Gale by itself is a cool little tech, but if you plan to use the Rescue Cat -> Tiger, Samnite, or Airbellum strategy then Airbellum for sure.

I still think Retiari is a staple even against decks that don't heavily rely on the grave. In other words, he almost always wrecks one thing or another. Hitting Vayu, Plague, that third Dark, that fourth Lightsworn, in a mirror match hit there only dead Glad so they don't Darius, hit a Six Sam to prevent Chancellor from coming out, hitting a target for Zero, ect...

I like Shrink over Controller because again it can force a tag while taking out a good monster your opponent has at the time.

I still think Waboku is much useful. Not only can it be used to force out a tag, but OTK decks will still be popping up and Lightsworn is just down, not out. As for it vs. D Prison... eh, I personally don't like replacing Waboku with D Prison, but I still would like to test some D Prisons this format.

Yeah. I decided to run them in tandem with one another (in 2s, sometimes running the third Waboku).

As for Gale: is Sirocco worth using with it? I presently run Rescue Glads, but am looking to do something..."different."

I may test Shrinks, but i currently run 3 books and 2 smashings, with the 2 D Prisons (which is probably what I would sub-out for shrinks).

As for Test Tiger (and in reference to my first question): outside of Rescue Glads, is it necessary at 3, or 2, or at all? And, if the Sirroco + Gale is viable, would it be run with that lineup?

As for other tech, I've been using Dust Tornados (a nice one for one, with Starlight Road being everywhere), and 2 Thunder Kings (since they are still as potent as they were before).

Anyone have opinions on the above? Or, perhaps, anyone have any interesting tech?

Found this on the interwebs and thought it might provoke some discussion:

i dont think ancient forest is a staple unless you run 3 waboku and this format 3 waboku is bad because glads will be pretty popular this format.

I concur. it works well conceptually, but the reality remains that until gladiator beasts wain in the later part of the format (or after Infernities come out)--and that's just a maybe--the ancient forest idea is best left for interesting side deck tech.

I'm trying out the Sirocco tech time and again and I just can't consistently use them effectively (or at all).

I think I'll just stick with Rescue Cat, and probably side the Icarus, Gale and 2 Sirroco.

What do people think of Thunder King, Legendary Jujitsu Master, or Gorz in the main deck? I see differing opinions on this subject.

i dont think you need thunder king as much anymore since blackwhirlwind went to 2. juju is pretty good considering its a suprise and a lot of people are using either glads or bw. i tech a grand mole and no one seems to think its good but its worked wonders for me.

Last time I played GBs, I mained Gorz. Solid body, stopped swarms.
Juju is good tech esp against the mirror match, BWs, and Flamvell Cat.
I used to main Mole 3 formats ago. It was amazing with Herk.

Gorz was really good in the deck last format, but when you have a Chariot and your Glad gets blown, it's horrible because you can't even drop it.

It's pretty pointless to discuss Gb's in March of 2010, in a GB article topic posted in March of 2009.

You'd be better off posting in our Gladiator Beasts discussion topic, or creating a new and updated Galdiator Beast article
