A more simple approach to the tutor thread. Instead of asking your selected tutor a question concerning graphic design just post here and any of our talented artists will answer it for you.

Example

Q: How do I change the size of this image?

A: Well you could go to "Image" in the Photoshop Toolbar than go to "Image Size" and edit the dimensions. A larger number will give you a larger image.

It's cause you didn't make the canvas big enough...and at the end take your eraser out and change the brush shape and change it to like a 100 pixel soft round and erase with the very edge of the brush to get the faded effect

I am not a pro at photoshop but I think he just needs to add a gradient overlay. =p

edit: >layer>layer style>gradient overlay.

There are lots of ways to fade the lower edge. You could take out the lasso tool (or any selection tool really) and make a circular shaped selection on the whole bottom edge then go select: >feather and choose a low amount like 10 or less and go edit: >cut.

When you pen tool try and play a little game of connect the dots. You can curve your paths by click in the middle of the path and curving with the CTRL key I think. All it takes is practice, start out by making some normal shapes before you start creating crazy stuff with the pen tool.

C4D's are 3d objects rendered in Cinema 4D. They can be any kind of object from a car to a candle. Usually sig makers are refering to abstract C4D render's like this: http://sophonax.com/rve/C4D_Render_Wallpaper.jpg

They can be used for the background and for the effects in a signature. You can get free ones from places like planetrenders.com and some on deviantart.com

In addition to what Mystic said there's really 3 kinds of c4d's (sort of).

PNG : I just called them PNG because they have a transparent background, but they aren't really referred as such. These are probably the most flexible, since you can use their outlines for shapes, or use their colors/highlights for effects, or just slap one in there set to Normal to incorporate some motion.

Effect Renders: These have a back background, and are primarily used for the effects you can generate from the highlights when using blending modes like Lighten, Color Dodge, Linear Dodge, Screen, etc.

Wireframe renders: Like effect renders, most of these come with a background. but the backgrounds are easy to crop (magic wand, delete) if they get in the way. Wireframe renders are like...the skeleton of renders. If you like lines, you'll love wireframe. Alot of the times wireframe renders have black lines, but I sometimes like to invert them (Ctrl I), which turns the lines white, and then I'll set them to Lighten or Screen or whatever.

With the PNG renders and the effect renders, you can distort them or smudge them to get different effects, and not everything has to be Set to Lighten and you don't always need the laser-looking effects. Get creative =)

There are two ways to do it, and they are essentially the same thing.

The first way:
Download the brushes.
Click the brush tool.
Click this button.
Then click this button, a drop down menu should appear.
Click Load Brushes.
Choose the brushes you downloaded.
You're done.

the images in that explanation are not mine btw.

OR

Second way:
I don't have photoshop installed right now so I'm just imagining this...but if you look to the very right of the screen there'll be a tab that says "Brushes" in which you can do the same thing as the first step.

----------------------------------------

I use a regular mouse. Though I'd like to get a tablet so when I draw things I'll be able to draw them a whole lot faster. The most you're going to be using the mouse for is well...clicking, clicking to this layer, clicking to that layer, maybe clicking and dragging for smudging, clicking to get a brush on a sig, clicking and dragging to move stuff in the sig. Yeah..mouse is important.

Yugioh ETC, honestly there isn't much you can't learn here that you would learn at a big boy GFX site. Now that we categorized our tutorials into difficulty levels you can check out the tutorial right for you and since we have such a tight community asking for help is no problem.
