I am still going to disagree, Achilles. It is not "insta lose" when the cop claims early because the Doctor still has a fairly low chance of being killed. Sure, if the cop doesn't claim and the doctor dies, the cop would survive longer, but he is going to have a much tougher time convincing people to lynch a mafia goon when no other evidence exists besides his inspection results. It's a double edged sword.

Hell, in most mafia games I have played elsewhere, either the doctor or the jailer type roles would claim immediately, while the Doctor or Bodyguard style roles would hope that they do not get killed. But then again, outside communication was allowed in these games.

In a quick game it's a good strategy, but in a game where there's a mafia cop, a mafia role blocker, and a townie role blocker, plus lots of people, it's a bad idea for a cop to claim early because there's just too many things that can go wrong.
