Welcome to the ETC Forums Win-A-Tin contest, hosted by me, Lou Cypher, supported by GamingETC Store and the staff of ETC Forum, to promote the freshly re-opened Pokémon TCG section of ETC Forums.

WHAT IS THE WIN-A-TIN CONTEST?

As the name indicates, you can win a collector's tin at this contest, and anybody can enter. The tins involved are those of Charizard G, Garchomp C and Rayquaza C - That's right, the Surpreme Victors tins. How do you win one of those? Build a deck!

BUT LOU, SURELY IT'S NOT THAT EASY?

Indeed, you don't just build any deck, you build one with a price limit. This limit is $50.00, no more, no exceptions.
Now, the price list used is that of the GamingETC store, found here: http://www.gamingetc...on-singles.html. These prices will be used throughout the contest. The total of your deck may not exceed 50 dollars even by a cent, keep that in mind. Also, you get Basic Energy to use for free - they don't add up to your total cost.
Now as you turn in your decklist, you must list the single price after each single card you put in. For example, if you were to use Manaphy, from Diamond and Pearl, you should enter it as:

4x DP Manaphy - $0.99 Each
or
1x DP Manaphy - $0.99

Simple as can be. That is the only special requirement this contest will have, aside from the fact that it also has to be in the current modified format. That means that you're only allowed to use cards from Diamond and Pearl up to Rising Rivals.

SO WHAT EXACTLY CAN WE WIN?

First Place - You get to choose one of the Garchomp, Rayquaza or Charizard tins.
Second Place - You get to choose one of the tins from the two left over.

Also, the most original decklist will recieve the third and final tin. Do know however that the deck still must be able to function somewhat well, so randomly tossing together 60 cards is not going to win you the originality prize.

Depending on the number of entrants, there may be booster pack prizes for people who finish 4th - 8th.

WOW LOU, SOUNDS GREAT, HOW DO I ENTER?

Simple. First off, you must be a registered member of this website, and have at least 5 posts before you can submit your deck. 5 posts isn't a steep count by any means, so that should not be a problem.

Then, you must e-mail your decklist to etcwinatin@hotmail.com, with your username included. This e-mail account is not managed by me, messages from there will be anonymously forwarded to me to prevent any form of bias.
Also, only 1 entry for each person.

Finally, keep it secret which deck is yours. If during any stage of the tournament it is found out which deck belongs to who, you will get disqualified.

Those are all the requirements for joining this contest. The deadline for your deck submission is set on September 1, 2009. By September 8, the winners will be announced. The winners will get a message asking their address so that the tins can be shipped towards them.

Happy deckbuilding!

Final notes:

* If you have any questions, do not hestitate to send me a PM. I will answer any question asked as soon as I can.
* September 1 is the deadline, and by that I mean September 1, 23:59 GMT. This being the central timezone and the one I go by.
* Once again, we use this price guide: http://www.gamingetc...on-singles.html
* Make sure that upon sending your e-mail to etcwinatin@hotmail.com, you include your user name. We will check if you have the required 5 posts. If not, we will let you know and you'll get a chance to get those posts and you can submit your deck again.
* You may alter your submission if you wish. This is done by sending etcwinatin@hotmail.com another message with your updated decklist and again, your username. Do not alter too often though, this might hurt your chances.
* There will be no discussion possible about the winners. I will never know which member has which deck until I submit the winners, so there is no possible bias.
* The prizes currently stated are the bare minimum we got so far. Upon getting more entrants then expected, we might be getting more price support. Keep your fingers crossed everyone, and get your friends to join!
* Most importantly, have fun trying to come up with something.

If you looked closely, you see that Achilles is reorganizing and more contests will follow, also for Magic and Yugioh.

If you actually looked in the announcements you would see there are yvd tournaments being run right now giving away packs of cards.

LOL

This contest goes to show that ETC might be headed in the right direction and hopefully it'll attract newer members to the boards during the rest of this year.

There is no use complaining. See that's the thing with pro-active members (Such as yours truly) - They get things done. And since I'm on the Pokémon side, I get Pokémon things do. Nothing stops you from attempting to do the same for Yugioh.

1 pokemon tin = $15
6 packs of yugioh = $24

Furthermore, I believe pokemon tins only have 5 packs of cards in them. Nonetheless, we're going to be holding contests for all 3 games in the near future, so don't worry.
