sharpened version is better. there's something strange about it that doesn't make it very appealing. I would make a wider and make the bg more horizontal. i would also add some more varied color.

there's no relationship between the foreground and the background, in terms of colour, composition and lighting. try and blend the render and the render effects to those of the background.
