I lighting seems to be all over the place and the blur isn't working. I did like the emphasis on his eyes and mouth though but I think that is just part of the original stock.

Get more of the original showing, don't overcoat the render with effects, let it breathe :) I do like the composition of it though.

I prefer the first one more.
The second one doesn’t have that much dept and BG scheme seems repetitive.
However, I like how you have a little more of the original stock showing on the newest version.
