Okay, so, Gamefreak's been doing this right under our noses. And no one here ever mentioned the new system. So, I'll just post the big news here so everyone has an easier time breeding for their perfect-IV'd Pokemon. Recently, Serebii.net has released a page discussing "Breeding Changes". What I have found out is the fact that a specific IV can be transferred to an offspring can be made easier if you purchase a power item at the battle frontier.

Here's the process:

1) Purchase multiple Power items at the Battle Frontier, or otherwise obtain it through other means. 2) Fly to the Daycare near Goldenrod City (the one with Whitney's gym). 3) Choose your (Legal!) parents and put them in your party. If you want an offspring to have a perfect specific IV, then find a parent has has so. For example, you have a male Vaporeon that has a perfect Special Attack IV. Put him in the party along with a female compatible parent. The female parent may have a perfect IV, too, such an Espeon with a perfect Speed IV. Also, prepare the hatching method by putting a Pokemon with Flame Body or Magma Armor, such as the reliable Magcargo! 4) Assume we're using the Vaporeon and Espeon mentioned above. The IV's that they have are similar to that of a great special sweeper (Glaceon, Espeon, Jolteon, Vaporeon, I'm looking at you guys). So, equip the power item that corresponds to their desired IVs:

Power Anklet: Speed
Power Band: Special Defense
Power Belt: Defense
Power Bracer: Attack
Power Lens: Special Attack
Power Weight: Hit Points

So, obviously, if you want that great special sweeper, you must equip the Power Lens on Vaporeon, and the Power Anklet on Espeon. If you still want to keep that Modest or Timid Nature from Espeon, alternatively equip the Everstone instead. 5) Put both parents into the Daycare. And wait until the nice old man offers you the egg. 6) Hatch the egg in which place you desire. After your egg hatches to an Eevee, check the IV's. The Special Attack IV will be 31. If you alternatively didn't care about the nature and put a Power Anklet on Espeon, then the offspring will also have a speed IV of 31. If you DID care about the natures, then the Speed IV will be randomized while Vaporeon's SpA IV remains the same on the offspring.

Small note: If you want some near-perfect IV's in every stat, continue breeding with the offspring involved. And, if you didn't get the desired nature, yet you have two or more perfect IV's, test your luck with a Johto Ditto holding an Everstone and most, if not all, your perfect IV's and desired nature should remain with Ditto's offspring.

Overall, I think this was a great action that Gamefreak did for us. Now, we don't have to overly rely on probability and all that math crap in order to get that 29/31/30/31/31/31 Mixed Infernape…or at least I'm VERY sure, since it is Serebii. In general, if you've got a power item on you, and you have a Pokemon that's pretty good in a specific IV, just equip it with a specific Power Item, and BOOM! Breed away (lol)!

THERE WILL BE NO SEREBII FLAMING, 'kay?

I know the IV calculator isn't reliable compared to MetalKid's, but, Joe actually tries hard to pass on information to use battlers.

Also, use common sense, just like anybody else does on a normal thread.

The main purpose of this thread is to express thoughts and feelings on our new breeding system in the HGSS games. Also, this might impact the Breeding Guide Article on the DP page, so, also discuss the impact how how it is made easier or harder. Give your own opinions as well. All I had to do was "EXTRA! EXTRA! NEW BREEDING SYSTEM AVAILABLE?!"

If you don't wanna depend on a Smogon freshman for his information, visit this page: http://www.serebii.n.../breeding.shtml

Ja-Ne~! Happy discussing.

How do you tell if the one, or both, has a pefect IV? Also, if both have a perfect IV, the offspring will hatch with two perfect IVs in which case you can breed that one and so on until you have one with all pefect IVs?

Plug it's stats into an IV calculator, which can be found various places online.

But at Lv.1 a 31 IV and say...a 26 IV could produce the same stat.

Sooo you Wi-Fi battle with it -or- Rare Candy it's level up to the point where each IV level produces a distinct stat. Thennnn you use an IV calculator.

With the breeding thing, there's a certain chance each parent passes down stats to the baby. Since you can only pass on one stat from each parent with the power items, you'll only have up-to-two guaranteed stats each time, the rest up to chance. However you still want to use the best parents possible so if you do get lucky, they'll pass down good IVs.

This is really awesome. Makes getting specific HP's and etc a lot easier.

I like how GameFreak adds things like this to show they care for the competitive community.
