A good game is only as good as the opinion of the player giving it.

He likes *That* kind of RPG. So what...Stop treating your opinion as law, just because you've played more games and have a different opinion of contrast between them doesn't make you the RPG genius either.

It doesn't have to be button mashy or turn based. You can have tactical or real time, and you can of course incorporate RPG elements into those attacks as well. KH was simply a huge collaboration of quick time events with "levelling" and items. That doesn't make an RPG.

But honestly, FF, Chrono Trigger, Dragon Quest, Tales of Symphonia, Fire Emblem, Skies of Arcadia, Golden Sun...

None of those JRPG games/series did it right?

That's why I thought it was a different game. Btw, KOTOR was great and the real-time fighting was fine. It was obviously "rolling dice" behind-the-scenes but it's w/e

Out of all of those Ive only ever played Final Fantasy and Fire Emblem. Do I think they did it right? Yes. But truthfully, I had the most fun playing KH because of the buttom mashy action. FF was better in terms of thinking and I loved the story and choices here and there, and FE for me was truthfully quite boring outside of story line. Now if I DIDNT play FF or FE, I could say it was the best RPG that did it right, and I wouldn't be wrong either- it's an opinion, and you can only form an opinion of something you know about. Notice how he didn't bash the other games, just said that it was the best.

Marketing. They looked at the huge mass of weeaboos and said "What in the world could we make that's absolutely sub par all around, but still sell like hotcakes?" It's the same reason why Halo doesn't do anything new or interesting or even exceptional, and still sells.
