That's the exploit. Switching right as you finish a combo fills the ATB gauge faster than waiting does. Those 2 particular setups(RA and Diversity) happen to be the best PDs for this point in the game. Diversity allows you to keep your damage output relatively high while doing some minor healing and RA has the highest damage output of any PD for the Light/Hope/Fang party (At least as far as I know). Also, if Fang has launch (Which she freaking better), whatever enemy you're concentrated on won't touch the ground more than 2-3 times during the entire stagger period(provided the enemy can be launched).

Might give that a shot.
Gotta deal with the big grape you I got from a retry. Got an Orion on a preempt, couldnt get a heal to save my life and now I cant jump the grapeer again because its already set up
EDIT: Third time jumping him and clearing the corps guys out first. They got orangegot speed to be able to overwhelm that fast.

Come home, play against boss like this:
- This guy has 220000 HP. Most of my hits are dealing around 900-1000 damage.
- This dude is freaking impossible to stagger.
- Every so often, this boss will guard against attacks, reducing damage to about 2 or 3. No 0's, literally 2 or 3 damage. This lasts about 10-15 seconds. You get around 30 seconds in between each guard period.
- In addition, he also occasionally heals himself for around 2000 HP.
- Before you stagger him the first time, he will change form, This halves all damage to himself for the rest of the battle. At the same time, he will do some kind of massive damage attack that can't be avoided and basically halves everyone's HP. He will proceed to perform this attack about every minute or so.
- Immediately afterward, he will cast Protect, Shell, Haste, and Bravery on himself. About 10 seconds after that, he will do a 7 or 8 hit combo on whoever he feels like. If that person isn't a sentinel and isn't fully healed, it will almost assuredly KO him/her.
- At around 1/4 remaining HP on the dude, he will cast Doom on your party leader. Doom cannot be gotten rid of. It took me about 45 minutes the first time I got that far. Doom told me I had about 2 minutes to finish the battle. I cried.
Wat do?

I know who you are talking about. I wont say for the sake of spoilers, but from what the book says, try a controlled juggle after Fang launches him so he cant slip into Guard mode on you which will also allow you to pour on the hate and damage when he cant fight back. This is assuming that you are fighting against the boss in chapter 10.

Ok, grape spoilers. I assume you are talking about Cid in which case it is possible. I just really hope that you dont have to have intermediate weapons to deal with him because its pretty grapeing costly to buy good exp items for upgrades

Yeah, the plot takes a while to straighten itself out.
I love how this is the first FF in quite some time where the plot doesn't completely bore me half to death.
