Meganium is a really decent wall in UU, as is Blastoise, Venusaur and to some extent, Torterra. Feraligatr, Infernape and Charizard are all beasts when it comes to sweeping. Given a free turn they can all really just destroy a team. Empoleon is the same way, but it's on an entire different level of sweeping than the rest. Infernape is a great sweeper in some contexts but it's more of a utilitarian revenge killer. Typhlosion is literally the worst starter. =/

Infernape→Swampert→Empoleon→Ferligatr→Blaziken→Blastoise→Charizard→Sceptile→Venusaur→Torterra→Typhlosion→Meganium

That's how it goes in my opinion, from best to worst.

Infernape for me, though I like all the D/P/Pt starters (Empoleon and Torterra).

Chimchar is easily the best starter.
I do like totodile in HGSS though (Ice Fang/Crunch/Surf makes for a lot of good matchups in the game).

The best starter is either Feraligatar or Infernape.

My favorite starter is either Pikachu or Torchic.
