Honestly, it's a pretty useless thing. At the bottom right there's a + and -. I assume you know what does which.

Honestly, it does NOTHING. You are not effected by it in any way possible. People are -rep you when you have an idea that they don't agree with and there's only 2 ways to find out who did it.

1) Check to see if someone signed it
2) Ask a Mod to check for you if there's an overwhelming amount of -reps.

To be quite blunt, many of us find it unneeded and have motioned to get it disabled but our attempts have been declined.

It doesn't do anything anymore. When we were on vB for a short period of time, too much gave you an auto-suspension, but that was repealed when 3 of us came up with the "rep bomb" to stave away posters we did not want posting. The Administration quickly removed that effect.

It's SUPPOSED to be an indicator of whether or not your posting needs to improve, but most of ETC uses it for personal vendettas because we can't get along and be friends.

I believe this sufficiently covers the topic.

Real men (and women) sign their reps, & don't really care about their score.

Seiously though, it doesn't mean a whole lot. As Shadow & House said, its just a board function that lets members + or - posts based on the repper's choice.

It does do things on this board. At the bottom of all the posts, towards the bottom of the page it says "Currently viewing all posts. Change threshold?" You can change that so you don't see -rep posts or only see +rep posts.

It kind of ironic because making these types of topics attracts -reps that the OP dislikes.

I actually like the rep system. If you make an idiotic post, you get negged. If you make someone laugh, or you are clever, you get a positive.

Cute.
