i love this game.
for gameplay that doesn't need to be online and you won't beat in a couple days. this game is the best.
for games that arent online i really only enjoyed the final fantasy's. this game is way different and takes just as long to get through.
GAME GOES HARD

How strange that you'd bring this game up, even though it's an older game now. I've recently started replaying the game and have become addicted to it for like the 3-4 time.

I always splurge for like 2-3 months, don't play it for like a year, and then repeat.

Currently playing as a Dark Elf "Spell Sword"

I have been playing this game nonstop for several years now. I was actually just having a discussion about this game via text messages less than ten minutes ago.

On that note, I have to disagree with it taking a long time. I can breeze through any questline (including Thieves' Guild, Mages' Guild, and the Main Quest) in a matter of two or three hours at most, with the exception of the Shivering Isles, which does take a while to 100% (but I've done it multiple times, including acquiring the Risen Flesh greater power through the hidden quest at the Hill of Suicides). I actually completed the Thieves' Guild questline with my current character in maybe two hours (High Elf custom class, complete the Mage's Guild, train Illusion up to 100, Ghostwalk, game over). The Big Heist took about twenty minutes.

Probably my favorite game of all time. Any questions on anything, feel free to shoot them in Corey (Sloth) and I's direction, pretty much all we do is play Oblivion. Right now he's working on closing all sixty Oblivion gates since no one we know has done it, and he's on number fifty-nine. We've also managed to glitch into Hawkhaven/the testing areas recently, and it's sort of interesting I guess. We haven't found many interesting things so far aside from the Mace of Doom and infinite Transcendent Sigil Stones of every type, though. We're working on getting into the testing halls, which has containers/room with every single item in the game (there's a library with all of the books, a room with all of the Daedric artifacts, a room with every piece of armor and every weapon, a room with every enemy, etc).

I never played this as much as I should have. Maybe once I finish this Mass Effect 2 playthrough I'll pick this up again.

Alas, poor Yorick.

Yo Rurouni, how do you get to the testing area?

Easiest way to do it (how we did it) -

1 - Download the Wizard Tower plugin.
2 - Go to Frostcrag Spire, get the quest update.
3 - Go to the Mystic Emporium in the Market District of the Imperial City.
4 - Talk to the merchant there that is added by the plugin (the female High Elf one).
5 - Buy the Living Area and Alchemy Garden upgrades for Frostcrag Spire.
6 - Go back to Frostcrag Spire and make your way to the Alchemy Garden.
7 - Stand in the section of the garden where the Bloodgrass, Harrada Roots, Spiddle Sticks, etc. grow.
8 - Face the wall closest to you (not the one with the door).
9 - Save your game in this position.
10 - Delete the Wizard's Tower plugin.
11 - Load that save. You'll get a notification telling you that the save relies on downloadable content that is no longer available. Choose to proceed anyway.

If you did it correctly, you will be inside of a house that looks much like the interior of a Bruma house. You're actually inside a test house in a settlement called Hawkhaven, which is actually located within the game itself (obviously), but is actually in the sky above Cyrodil. For whatever reason, that particular section of the Alchemy Garden in Frostcrag Spire falls within that house, making it safe to spawn there. You can go out the door of this house and you'll arrive in the outside of Hawkhaven. The Mace of Doom is sitting on the ground to the right of the fire you'll see in front of you. There's a building to the left that contains an unlit Sigillum Sanguis. You can use Night Eye to see in here, and you can jump to the Sigil Stone to activate it. If you do this, run to the door very quickly before you're over-encumbered because it's going to start filling up your inventory with every type of Transcendent Sigil Stone until you leave the building (I recommend taking the Gray Cowl of Nocturnal and as many things as you can to give you Feather and nothing else with you for this reason; if you're a Master of Heavy or Light Armor, a full enchanted suit with Feather 50 Points on Self works well also).
The test area is massive. We're not sure if it even has an ending yet, we've walked in one direction for hours without finding an end to it. There's interesting stuff scattered in seemingly completely random places (houses with zombies in them, a non-functioning Cloud Ruler Temple, etc). Just dick around for a while. When you're ready to head back, you can fast travel out of Hawkhaven back down to the main map at any time.

EDIT: I should mention that the aforementioned testing halls (the building with pretty much everything in the game) are within one of these houses in Hawkhaven. The door should be unlocked in the PC version of the game; it's not on the console versions, which is what we're working on finding a way into.

Oh, and here's a list of some cool things you guys need to check out/acquire in Oblivion if you haven't, because I'm bored

Stuff you should get -
- Skeleton Key
- Goldbrand
- Hatred's Soul/Hatred's Soul Arrows
- Rosethorn Hall
- Dawnfang/Duskfang (if you have the Shivering Isles)

Stuff you should fight -
- Umbra
- Spectral Mud Crab
- Ghost of Perennia Draconis
- Giant Slaughterfish
- Giant Mudcrab
- Uderfrykte Matron
- Lich Erandur-Vangaril
- Unicorn

Places you should go -
- Lost Black Rock Chasm
- Rockmilk Cave
- Roxey Inn

Stuff you should do -
- Paralyze things down hills (Bears, horses, and boars work best)
- Use Wabbajack on Mehrunes Dagon
- Use a Frenzy spell on everyone outside the Great Gate
- Use Telekinesis spells to freely throw plum around in stores, houses, etc.

Holy crap, I remember the first time I discovered the giant mudcrab. I hadn't read about it before and it scared the living plum out of me.

I may have done some of these that I didn't cross out, but I'm not 100% sure

I currently just finished all the daedra shrine quests on my character, I love doing the last one

The giant slaughterfish is far more intense than the giant mudcrab, to be honest. A lot harder to get to, too.

My first character a vampire Nord custom calls closed all 60 gates, it takes a lot of walking in and out of cells and hoping they actually spawn, I didn't do any of the main quest with this guy he just walked from Anvil to Leyawiin(which I sadly spelled right the first time) dungeon diving. I got the guide because I know this was one of those freeform quests that would take understand how the game spawns them, and did a lot of loading/reloading and like I said walking in and out of play cells to do it. My favorite gate was the one in the field between Kvatch and Anvil were you fight with the couple legionaries trying to fight back the waves of Deadra. I loaded over and over again to save them because I was so high level it was spawning enemies that would slice though them like butter.

To this day no matter what level I am I hate, and fear Mountain Lions.

Stuff you should get -
- Skeleton Key
- Goldbrand
- Hatred's Soul/Hatred's Soul Arrows
- Rosethorn Hall (best house for a vampire with the servant and all)
- Dawnfang/Duskfang (if you have the Shivering Isles)

Stuff you should fight -
- Umbra (You mean for the daedric quest, correct?) it was much cooler in Morrowind double-handed against that crazed Orc)
- Spectral Mud Crab
- Ghost of Perennia Draconis
- Giant Slaughterfish
- Giant Mudcrab
- Uderfrykte Matron
- Lich Erandur-Vangaril
- Unicorn
(this thing was so horribly bugged it would grapeing kill everything in sight for me which caused me a lot of grief)

Places you should go -
- Lost Black Rock Chasm (this sort of reminded me of the first golden sun game)
- Rockmilk Cave
- Roxey Inn
(meh this place is only funny if you kill those 3 guys in it before doing that Indiana Jones quest)

Stuff you should do -
- Paralyze things down hills (Bears, horses, and boars work best)(add watermelon racing and the likes it is so much fun to mess with the game physics.
- Use Wabbajack on Mehrunes Dagon (try killing him in with reflect spells it take a long time and a lot of healing)
- Use a Frenzy spell on everyone outside the Great Gate (haven't done this one yet have to play again)
- Use Telekinesis spells to freely throw plum around in stores, houses, etc.

Add to the list killing the gate keeper in Shiver Ilse with no help
Finding all the Ayleid ruins and statues and doing the Umbacano quests
Finding all the beggers
Jumping over the wall into Skingrad from the outside

I've been meaning to try this for awhile, just haven't gotten around to it.

Unfortunately, being a mage with a non-Breton/High Elf is hard because that extra magicka is amazing

Oh wait, I think I read it wrong... No, I've never made the main skills I'm going to use my minor ones

brent - Yeah, the Unicorn is a grapeing monster. I like to go find it and not kill it so that it will hunt your ass down for the rest of the game, because 99% of the time the guards can't take it.

And I agree hard about Mountain Lions. grape that magic lock thing they get you in. Goblin Warlords are just as bad.

I have to say though, there is one particular kind of enemy I fear far, far more than Mountain Lions - Hungers. grape. That.

Why can't you? Go talk to a chapel priest and ask about a cure for vampirism, then they'll send you Romulus Polis (the dude you get quests from in the Mages Guild at the Arcane University) and he'll send you to Hassildor (Count of... Skingrad? I think), and he'll send you to some chick who lives in the middle of nowhere and you then proceed to get ingredients for the cure.
