  • According to the publication, the hotly anticipated RPG kicks off on earth, with hero Shepard on trial following the events of Mass Effect 2’s latest and last chunk of DLC, Arrival. The brown stuff soon hits the fan, though; Reapers begin their invasion as the hearing gets underway.
  • Apparently, the Cerberus organisation from ME2 is out to kill Shepard, with the Illusive Man poised to feature heavily in the events of the third game.
  • Shepard will be accompanied by returning squaddies such as Garrus and Liara, with Kaiden and Ashley also showing up depending on your choices made in the inaugural Mass Effect. Meanwhile, Wrex, Mordin, Legion and Anderson will appear as non-party characters.
  • Newcomers will be able to digest a ‘Previously on Mass Effect’ comic that allows them to make decisions a la Mass Effect 2 PS3’s interactive comic. Mass Effect 3 will boast multiple endings, influenced by who you sign-up for your team.
  • Elsewhere, RPG components will be kicked up a notch, though won’t quite revert back to Mass Effect 1’s template. Players will be given more freedom in regards to character skills though, as skill trees will be larger and powers can evolve multiple times over.
  • Weapons are based on ME2, though you’ll also have access to various mods that allow you to swap out various gun parts, including barrels and scopes. Classes meanwhile go unhindered in terms of weapons, though you’ll be limited in terms of how much you can carry.
  • No multiplayer will be included in the game, but according to the article summary, the developers informed GI that it may consider adding the feature for future titles or spin-offs.

This game is going to be SO GOOD. I really need to play more ME2 first though.

Alas, poor Yorick.

Looks like more reasons to get my Sentinel runs done in the future.

Not surprised that TIM would want to kill you considering how much you learn the the FU you give him if you dont blow the CB to hell and back. Wonder if he will still want to kill you if you kept the base though. Probably will have it on pre-order soon enough for collectors.

Wow, if the Illusive Man is out to kill shepard when the reapers are still around, then he's far stupider than I could have anticipated.

To be honest, I have no faith in this game. I've seen several screencaps of Bioware people stating that the decisions you make don't really matter. So, the Illusive Man will want to kill you regardless of your ME2 choice. Also, where did that badass squad I recruited go?

Yeah, that's understandable considering the mess they made of DA2. I'm really starting to feel that Bioware can't make a decent story, I mean they still need to give the reapers a motivation/reason for the cull they perform every 50,000 years or so. Still if this is legit (which I assume it is), I feel a lot of ass pulling on the way.

Edit: WTF that's Ashley?! Looks more like one of the pre-mades for a female shepard.

There is still motavation for the Reapers to cull the galaxy. We pretty much end ME2 with the Reaper baby getting grapeing aborted violently and:

Spoiler

I'm not digging the new look for Ashley, but I can get over it since I wont have to look at her much outside of the ship.

Also I anticipate Arrival being spoiled for anyone that hasnt played new DLC or cant afford it somehow. That or they will try to spin the trial for treason since Shep did work for Cerberus.

Yes, Garrus is one of the best videogame characters to ever grace our world.

I came at his intro in ME2.

Alas, poor Yorick.

If you didnt need new pants, then you were probably some combination of gay and retarded.

Garrus and Thane got all the love in looking bad ass in their intros.

-_- Thinking more of the bad type of gay. Not the Sir Temp type of gay.

I'm just hoping that Ashley doesnt make me wanna shoot her again. Might just do it if I get the option this time around.

Well, if Russel Peters & the internet have taught us anything, it's that there's nothing wrong with being gay or retarded. Instead, it's arranged gay marriages & the approachability women in non-church oriented areas that we should be afraid of.

Scans are legit, not sure if the text is though. It was posted by a Bioware Moderator, but that's not exactly a developer post.

  • Humans aren't the only species that can be Husk-ified.
  • ME3 begins with Earth's assault by the Reapers, and things don't look so good, but there's something that is a silver lining, that makes it look like it's actually possible to not lose against the reapers .
  • TIM has sent his top agents to take down Shepard, The combat is going to be much harder and melee attacks are going to have more focus.
  • Shooting specific armor parts can have certain effects, and the AI of the enemies will have them routing Shepard and will coordinate with each other
  • Battlefields are going to be a great deal larger, and combat will be very varied.
  • Enemy Weapons can be PICKED UP. Soldiers can carry all kinds of weapons, and other classes understandably less so.
  • There is a larger skill tree and RPG aspects are going to be more integrated.
  • Weapon Modding is a greenlight, with things like barrels and scopes
  • Modding your weapons will vastly affect their appearance and how they function in battle
  • So far the CONFIRMED SQUADMATES are: Ashley/Kaiden, Liara, Garrus, and James Sanders who is mentioned is an Alliance Marine
  • Species Loyalty cannot only get obtained via Quests
  • Levels will have ladders
  • Available Squadmates will still maintain a balance, if per say Garrus had not survived ME2's events
  • ME1's Decisions such as sparing the Rachni will have a grave impact in ME3

Mass Effect 2 was much better than Mass Effect 1 though. I mean, they were both great but ME2 had much more engaging stories/character development... and Mass Effect 1 had the Mayko thing which sucked balllllllz

The Mako was horrible, but part of the reason we got Firewalker was because people didnt like how they just shunned exploration in vehicles.
