They already have a make shift Time Walk that also inflicts damage. What should that tell you about this game?
Also, plastic tech isn't new, Hecatomb did this first, only the 3D couldn't be implemented because it was an '05 card game that died due to basically its content.
ON THAT NOTE THOUGH, Redakai looks interesting, but I don't see it catching on that well. Mainly because half of the mechanics shown here come from Hecatomb, which is a dead game.

Looks pretty bad tbh. They sacrificed gameplay and tactics for 3D and animations which no competitive player cares about. There are some cards that already seem to be immensely broken. The resource system is hardly a resource system at all. Whoever goes first has a huge advantage with no downsides.
It's a big gimmick, and it won't catch on any more than in small groups of middle schoolers.

Alas, poor Yorick.

Target Market 8 - 18, ok.
Is this from a show?
I like that it is new, and it would be fun to start a new game. But if it doesn't take off that is wasted cash. With YuGiOh there was a show that drew me and others in. And you could find a decent amount of players in your area.
I guess there might be players who do this, but I doubt it.
Geeze I watched the first vid first. If I heard Redakai again I'll just stop. It is an annoying name.
THAT is the cool technology? Lol. I guess seeing the stcak is sort of cool, but it is not amazing.
3 card hands sounds no fun. And the hand shield seems like a hassle. But invisible cards say Hi lol.
Yellow is full health?
It looks like it is a 100% luck games. Unless you calling holding a monster skill. That charging resource sounds annoying in a long game as well.
Also, have fun separating your cards from the opponents on your stacked cards man. I don't know what you are talking about, I gave back all of your attacks leave me alone.

Gameplay aside, I think the overlay mechanic is really neat, and not just because DBGT & Hecatomb did it either.
You're right about how a lot of this doesn't seem practical, especially since it doesn't look to be designed for sleeves. However, it does seem interesting to say the least, and I think it goes without saying that every game starts out being pretty one dimensional.
