So there's quite a few of these games out by now, and I'm curious to see which ones we've played, and how they rank among similar titles. Personally, one of the things I liked about these (especially the 3rd) was the customization options & the fact that you weren't just racing on a track. Instead, there was an actual story mode where you'd race people through cities (full maps with markers to find & whatnot) to earn money to put toward new cars & upgrades. Also liked the amount of real cars that you could work with (aka, not just Ferrari & Porsche makes), and the overall drivability (although not the most realistic) appealed to me too.

Well that, and the fact that it allowed me to act like myself on the road without ending up in jail, in the ground dead, etc.

I love midnight club games, but they tend to be a bit unforgiving. Make mistake, lose race automatically pretty much.

While it's true that mistakes can be costly (in the non circuit races especially), I've actually found Midnight Club to be one of the more forgiving games in terms of crashes & overall grapeups. Like, even the Bikes & Tuners (weakest in terms of durability) can go though like 10 accidents before you've gotta generate a different vehicle, while the Muscle Cars & Trucks are almost impossible to destroy without spending the entire race crashing into the same wall over & over again. I like this though because as you say, aiming for a flawless race still really pays off.
