What confuses me is that they don't plan on having Blue-Ray.

Nintendo won't sign any deals with Blu-Ray manufactures so they make their own discs. The discs will be able to hold 25GB of memory which is exactly the same as a single layered Blu-Ray.
I've heard that Sony won't be releasing a powerful machine for it's next iteration, and we can all see were Microsoft is going. We don't know when the new systems will actually be announced, but it won't be as big of a power difference between the three as there was this generation. The reason the Wii was so dated was mainly due to its lack of HD functionality, Nintendo stayed behind in a dated medium, while the competition jumped ship into the future. High-Definition is now the norm of households, and there won't be any true TV upgrade for at least five years (unless you count 3D). The next generation of consoles will have their differences in terms of power, but it'll be more akin to PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube. Just my prediction of things.

I want to be excited for the Wii U but I have to see the actual specs. The rumored specs are really underwhelming and will be outdated by the time Microsoft and Sony releases their new systems.
I'm excited for Uncharted 3, Halo 4(I think), the Vita, and Gears of War 3.

There probably won't be any new, more powerful systems for quite a while, because Sony and Microsoft are just starting to make real profits on their current systems and they'll want to keep it that way for a good few years yet.
Consumers are starting to bite back at expensive game prices, piracy and pre-owned games sales are examples that many simply don't see the point in buying new games as much (although, I would defend my right as a consumer to purchase pre-owned games), they could simply wait a few weeks or hit the torrent sites to nab a copy of a new game.
I actually sympathise with them since £40/$60 for a game is utterly ridiculous, I remember when gameboy games used to cost £20 a pop brand new (don't know US prices at the time), when I was about 10 years old. Now a 3DS game can cost up to £40 brand new (the same price as a console game), although prices are starting to stabilise at around £30.
Do you really want to pay $70+ for a single game that you might not even enjoy?! That's what going to happen if this gen is any indication, which is the polar opposite of what should be happening considering gaming is now meant to be mainstream and not for some kid in his bedroom learning to code C# to create his own 8-bit Amiga title.
If publishers and manufacturers want to get more sales out of their titles then we need to see a universal price drop on all games, which will encourage impulse buying for games that would usually go under the radar (this is a major reason as to why steam is so profitable and popular). Unfortunately, this isn't likely to happen, since it makes far too much sense to the suits.

Sony and M$ dont "plan" on releasing their next consoles until 2014, if you watch the rumor mills.

e3 was terrible. sequels.
child actors, kinect based gameplay, Wii U, all of these things made me want to vomit.
skyrim looks awesome but who has the time for another elder scrolls. shame too, random sequence dragons? kickass.
hcea looks pretty good, should do well for an hd remake of something everyone's played. multi looked to be reach, oh well.
halo 4 excites me because it's not reach\. it worries me because it's a scifi fps drama that's going into its fourth run of the same characters. cortana's ass in hd.
fable looks to disappoint. go elsewhere lionhead.
minecraft to the consoles and youtube to the 360, that's a bit lovely.
all in all e3 showed us how few ideas circulate in the gaming industry. evolution, not revolution, i guess...
