What do yalls locals consist of? Like Player wise, Deck Wise, Skill Wise, etc.

As for me, Every goddamn Local might as well be a Mini YCS seeing as every local I go to im there with Spicer, Bowling, Brake, Luna, Moore, etc. I get alot of Well needed practice haha.

Nobody with any real skill. Mostly kids with some of the most expensive decks parents can buy. But for the most part nobody with any skill. If I had any money to actually keep up...

I haven't been able to go for at least a month now, but they've sucked ass for quite some time compare to where I used to live, at least in terms of numbers. Like, there's still a handful of good players, most of the people who go there are friendly, and the meta is usually varied between both the expected & unexpected. These are all good things. However, the fact that we haven't gotten many new people kind of blows, especially since there's a pretty large percentage of guys who go there to buy plum, but that don't wanna play in tournaments/can't go because of work & things.

I've been wanting to take a more active role in regards to changing this, but the fact that I haven't even had a free weekend in over a month pretty much makes this impossible.

Along with that, my city has 2 locals, both of which tend to attract different crowds. This means that finding a decent turnout is really hit or miss, and the fact that I'm in one of the most irrelevant places in the country when it comes to Yugioh doesn't help things grow. Like, it's no so much that I'm complaining or anything, but moreso that I miss the days of 40+ locals in Saskatoon where trading for cards was actually a possibility, even though I was a scrub back then & lost most of my games.

A sliver of people are "well-known" the rest are generic regional toppers.

It's the same way in my city. Two different stores, two different locals. But most of the good players play at both.

We probably have about 60 players between both stores. About 20 of us top at Regionals on a regular basis. Two of us have topped at a YCS. Two others have topped at an SJC.

I think my locals are pretty competitive. Maybe not everyone is the best skill wise, but almost everyone runs a top tier deck.

same here.

Used to be more well known, some great players come here every now and then, nobody's really that bad here except for the occasional scrubs that show up and this 1 guy who plays sabers (great deck, bad pilot). I go to the locals that hosts this site, btw.

I noticed that my local is full of regional toppers and one SJC topper, but for the most part it is people with average skill using competitive decks. Then there is me, the 'dick' coming in and playing Russian Roulette every week. When I top locals everyone swears they are going to quit and then I seem them next week.

After going around town looking for new areas to play in, I found that there is only 2 shops to play in. One is about 10 minutues away and the other is about 45 minutes away. Needless to say, all the good players in the area are usually at the one right by me, and thats half the players. And every saturday, if there si no big event going on, the shop is packed. Sitting room only for the players in the turny. And as a bonus, the shop holds a beginers turny aswell. And when it comes to the sneak peak, you have to make a reservation to get in.
Please help me with my Hieratic deck;

kids who confuse yugioh with MTG
The rest of the people who are just awesome

There's like 3-4 good players, and the rest are just there to chill and have fun.

Well yeah, and I'd honestly take this (aka how my area usually is) over 20-30 assholes, even if all of them were top rate players.

I've luckily never had to deal with the latter (although there's bound to be a few when the crowds get bigger), as I can't see myself even going to a tournament if doing so wasn't enjoyable.

The one sanctioned tourney in the city sucks wide in terms of attendance and skill level. I 2-0'd the entire time I went about a month ago, and only got 1 pack + super LADD for my 1st place prize. -.-

The other two are non-sanctioned and one is about the same size as the one listed above, but you don't get anything unless you top.

The last one is relatively large, but it's 20 minutes away and I rarely can attend as typically they are late to start, there's no prize/pack unless your 3rd or better and I've had some of my stuff get jacked while I'm there. Also don't really have time for tourneys while in my summer semester for college.

At any random moment, the Beliido brothers and any other good players from Canada will show up. Hard as hell.
