Well, I suppose this comes down to what kind of symbolism one sees in each. For example, I look at something like this & ask myself whether I'm more drawn to the type of girl who I've loved my whole live without really knowing it who's already part of my life, or whether I'm more drawn to the type of girl who I'd love to uncover & build on from that.

Then when it comes to the risk, one would argue that there's less risk involved with the little sister type because the two of you already know each other better than you'll probably know anyone else (and thus, have a better idea of whether or not its even worth perusing), while another will argue that there's more risk involved because there's much more to lose & much more anguish to follow. This is a common theme associated with why the "friend zone" is so hard to break, and why people will often swear that it can't work.

However to the first point, many will also argue that if you already love someone enough in this way, the greater potential risk lies in not perusing a future with that person. Where do I sit? Honestly, I probably sit closest to the middle because I've yet to find long term success with either.
