alright kiddos, lets throw ourselves under the bus a little bit here.

Give an example of a card that before it came out, you knew about and thought it would do all sorts of crazyness to the format, and then it just... didnt.

Maybe its day is still going to come at some point, but as of now it hasn't seen anywhere near as much play as you thought.

On the other side, when Retiari came out I thought it was a plum card. There was so much hype, people were talking about a "discard from hand" effect and making it appear broken, but it was one of the best things to happen to GBs.

Dark Simorgh I thought had a shot of being good, but it has always disappointed.

Probably the Dark Creator. When this card came out, I thought it would become huge along with Dark Armed, but it never did. Dark Simorgh to a pretty good exent too, as I vastly overestimated the impact that it would have had on otherwise inconsistant decks.

uhh... and then there's Effect Veiler which until it had already become popular, I didn't figure that it'd be that much better than Forbidden Chalice because it has the same effect with a much more restrictive timing. Granted, I also didn't know it was a tuner until seeing it in person, but still.

The special summon seemed to be an awesome concept. I thought it was as good as monster reborn, and other special summon cards.

Dark Nepthys, and all those other dark monsters that are in Ptdn besides dark armed dragon.


Vampire lord, when cyber dragon came out this stopped being played.

Vampire Dragon was great for a while, as was Airknight Parshath. It was a different era and I wouldn't say that you would be wrong about either until the release of Cyber.

I also thought there was something cool with Rose, Warrior of Revenge/Divine Sword Phoenix Blade/Summoner Monk, but that deck will never go anywhere.

Good point on that... I really thought Goats + Cybernetic had a chance of being a fun OTK.
