I was browsing another forum, using it to seek assistance with my casual decks since the Deck Section for such decks as Final Countdown and Ojama or other casual decks does not exist anymore. Anyways, I was giving assistance to a Final Countdown build, and through giving my Thoughts and Opinions, two things arose.
I suggested adding Arcana 0- The Fool and Black Luster Solider Envoy of the Beginning. And I was told Black Luster Solider had no place being in Final Countdown because it didn't help Final Countdown. If it is supported, it should go in right? Or am I mistaken? And also I suggested maybe Heavy Storm or Mystical Space Typhoon, another shut down idea, to rid Prohibition or Royal Decree perhaps. Does anyone side or use Prohibition? I would think it was a decent side deck card perhaps, I am wrong? Clearly I suppose room could go to better cards obviously, but is it any good?
And another side question, why is Final Countdown not considered a viable competitive deck? I think it is, I mean it can win. What cards can basically shut this deck down outside of Prohibition, Royal Decree, and negating Magic cards such as Magic Jammer, Magic Drain, etc. I would argue it seems like it could win tournaments or am I missing something?
Sorry to write such a long questionnaire of sorts, just looking for some opinions. To sum things up briefly,
1. Is Black Luster Solider a bad choice for this deck if it can be fit and function?
2. Is Prohibition any good for a side deck? Is it used by anyone?
3. What can stop Final Countdown completely, currently used in today's game?
I was unsure if this is the right spot/section for this, I assume it is.
Thank You for your time, and opinions on this subject. Any insight is welcome.

Final Countdown should only main deck cards that stall out the game and speed up getting to Final Countdown and the win condition itself.

Prohibition would wreck the deck for all intents and purposes, but it is not sided or used in any deck.

BLS doesn't really serve a purpose in the deck since BLS is an aggressive monster, which is unneccesary in a passive deck like Countdown. The deck should utilize stall tactics, card-drawing effects, and deck thinning effects.

Prohibition isn't really ran anymore. You might see some players occasionally side it, but it's not really needed.

Decree is kind of iffy against it. You might also see Trap Stun affect it, but any deck that can drop Naturia Beast/Barkion can hurt it. Sabers, Karakuris, and Sams can disrupt it. Even Rabbit decks can hurt it.

The problem with Final Countdown is that with a 34 card deck (3 Duality, 3 Upstart) you will open Final Countdown only 45% of the time.

If you don't open it, you lose no matter what honestly. Gold Sarcophagus doesn't matter, and from there the odds you ripping Final Countdown (28 card deck, 3 Upstart + 3 Duality + the 6 cards drawn to start) is 11%.

So yeah open it or you automatically lose.

Your opinion is just that. I would not say it is pathetic though, but that's my opinion.

Thanks Bherrell2 for that breakdown of odds and chance. Makes sense, and I was never good at those kinds of calculations, ~_~

Many players will agree that Countdown, exodia and burn are all orangegot decks and should not be played.

Because they win?
Because they suck?
Because they can be fairly cheap to build and can be effective?

Not getting why you are bashing these decks and people that run them. I hear "play to win" all the time on this forum. If these decks do this effectively, whether consistent or not, what is the problem?

Because they involve 0 opponent interaction and it wins/loses based off of itself. You aren't playing a game of yugioh, you are playing solitaire.

Now with this discussion, I am curious as to why they would even make such a card like Final Countdown. It wasn't used in the Cartoon Series I think. Eh. Doesn't matter I guess.
Thanks everyone for you responses and not totally ignoring the thread because I am not a popular member.
